Popular seafood restaurant group features our Sustainable True North salmon during the IBSS 2010

Cooke Aquaculture CEO Glenn Cooke speaks with Legal Sea Foods owner Roger Berkowitz at the True North Salmon booth at the International Boston Seafood Show on Monday, March 15. Cooke and Berkowitz held a joint news conference earlier to announce that Cooke's True North Seafood Trust Certified Eco Label Atlantic salmon from Atlantic Canada and Maine and was being featured on Legal Sea Foods menus.

Sustainability Never Tasted So Good

Aquaculture has been around for a few years now and most people are familiar with how it works.

Atlantic salmon are grown in large cages off the shores of Charlotte County in New Brunswick and harvested for the local, regional, national and world markets. It’s an industry that has humble roots but today accounts for more than $120-million in annual revenue for a number of players in Southwest New Brunswick. It’s an industry a lot of New Brunswickers have good reason to be proud of.

Fairmont Hotels and Resorts on Wednesday announced its Algonquin location in St. Andrews by-the-Sea, New Brunswick, is now serving some of North America’s first Seafood Trust-certified farmed Atlantic salmon.

Fairmont Algonquin Highlights True North Salmon

The folks at Fairmont Algonquin hotel will be hosting a celebration of True North Salmon’s Seafood Trust Eco-Label certification Sept. 23 at noon. Under the tutelage of executive chef Ryan Dunne, the event will showcase True North Salmon, a division of Cooke Aquaculture ­­— which is based in Charlotte County — and highlight eco-salmon to its partners, customers and supporters who have contributed to its success.

Salmon 2 Times Per Week = Healthy

Earlier this week, I attended an event at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel to celebrate the partnership of new eco-certified True North Salmon and the Royal York Hotel. I've previously hailed the fabulously fresh practices of True North here and here. Cooke Aquaculture Inc., the parent company of True North Salmon is the first company in North America to achieve third party certification to the internationally-recognized Seafood Trust Eco-label, which is certainly cause for a celebration!
